Lough Boora Parklandis owned by Board Na Mona . It is a 20 min drive from Riverside Paradise and is close to Boora church on the Cloghan to Blueball road. When you enter Lough Boora Parklands you cannot but be taken aback by the beauty and tranquil setting of this natural bog land surrounded by its lakes and walk ways . Here you can hire bicycles and set off to explore this parkland along its many cycle paths and walkways .Before you set out on your journey to Lough Boora Parklands from Riverside Paradise you will receive all maps leaflets and website links needed to make this experience a day to remember for all the family or group. At Lough Boora Parklands they have their own guided tours but make sure to book early as the tours are very popular.
Lough Boora Parklands is home to 130 species of birds throughout the year. There are a number of bird hides located around the lakes and fields. You can look out for the Irish Hare, the shy Otter and if you are quite the Badger. The parkland is also known for its butterfly, moths and flora.
The lakes at Lough Boora are stocked with coarse fish, you do not require a fishing licence to fish here and like most good things in this healthy environment, it is free. A number of renowned artist were invited to develop the sculpture trail. Industrial materials of the bog, such as locomotives, rail line, timber and stone have been developed into magnificent sculptures.
There is a nice picnic area with benches in grass land area. It would be an ideal place to have a brake or finish off the day in this excellent natural environment. Don’t forget the picnic box and all the organic goodies from our local organic food suppliers.
Like our boat trip during the week all waste must be removed and placed in the bag provided and placed in the appropriate waste containers at Riverside Paradise. (Leave no trace policy)
